  Allion was released for sale in December 2001 as a replacement of Toyota Carina. For Toyota fans from the old days, it was a sad moment to lose Toyoto Carina from its car selection; however, Allion was introduced without inheriting the name of Carina because Toyota planned to introduce Allion as an advanced medium sedan that leads 21st century.
  In terms of design, Allion has a dramatic design which is similar to recent Toyota's aggressive designs. Indeed, Toyota showed how good they are on building automobile by introducing Allion, developed with the keyword of “Upscaled and luxurious”.

  On June 13, 2016, Toyota Allion had its minor change and was released for sale again. Allion is a compact sedan. Its total length is less than 1.7 m, making it easy to maneuver on the narrow roads in Japan. Allion was born in 2007 and was rather widely changed in the current minor change, for example, the design of the front mask was renewed and safety equipment was also enhanced.
  The front mask of Toyota Allion adopts a fine mesh grille that gives an impression of smartness and high-quality. Rear combination lamps'form and design emphasize a feeling of depth and luxury. The exterior color of Toyota Allion can be chosen from 8 colors, including 5 new colors, such as Blackish Ageha Glass Flake.
  Toyota Allion interior was also renewed by changing the area around the center cluster and gear stick. Speedometer also became new, 4.2-inch TFT liquid crystal display that enables to display various information at a high resolution was adopted. By using illumination effect and white pointers for the meter, its visibility and a luxurious feeling were enhanced. The brown color was used for the leather seats, giving the interior a comfortable and high-quality atmosphere. The color of the non-leather seats was also changed from ivory to brighter color that makes a wonderful contrast to a black-colored interior.
  For safety features, Toyota Allion adopts the next features as a standard equipment: collision avoidance support system "Toyota Safety Sense C" involving a monocular camera and laser radar, and an intelligent clearance sonar system that helps drivers to avoid a collision at parking time and reduce a collision damage. Drive-start control function restraining a false start of AT and emergency brake signal are also set.

  On September 29, 2014, Toyota Allion was partially changed. 4WD model with 1.5 liter engine was equipped with an idling stop function, that enables reducing the fuel consumption to 19.2km/L (JC08). Furthermore, steering-assisted vehicle stability control (S-VSC) and hill-start assist control were added to all grades as standard equipment. 4WD models were also fitted with electronically controlled active torque control 4WD system.

  On 4 January 2012, Toyota Allion was released for sale again. This time, the fuel consumption of the vehicle was improved and a new grade equipped with various features was added to Allion line-up.
  Fuel consumption of all Allion grades was improved. By the revision of engine combustion efficiency and reducing friction, fuel consumption of 1.5 liter 2WD model became 18.2km/L (JC08).
  For interior, Toyota Allion adopts gloss wood grain panels. The quality of seat covers is increased. Interior color is changed.
  Furthermore, the system of Allion grades was also revised and new grades were added. "G PLUS PACKAGE" was added to Allion A15 and A16, while "LEATHER PACKAGE" was added to A20.
  Comfort of Toyota Allion was also improved. It used nanoe (nano-＋electric) technology and super UV-cut front door glass. Some grades are even fitted with steering switch as a standard equipment.
  "G PLUS PACKAGE" and "LEATHER PACKAGE" are also equipped with useful features such as high-intensity discharge HID lamps, Optitron meter, genuine leather wraps and woodgrain steering wheel, smart entry system etc.

  The second generation of Toyota Allion was released in June 2007. Allion has basic components similar to Toyota Premio, its sister model.
  Toyota Allion was developed as a compact-sized passenger vehicle and follows the standards for compact vehicles in Japan. The design of the front part of Allion is clearly different from Premio, and total length is shorter than Premio. The cabin is big that implies spacious indoor. The space around driver's seat is also designed to emphasize a width of the indoor space.
  A usability of various options was increased by bringing corresponding switches close to driver's hand. Compared to the previous model, a horizontal width of the instrumental panel was elongated up to 40 mm, and a size of the soft pad attached to the instrument panel was also increased. Gated shift lever was adopted to provide a certainty of operation.
  Rear seat of Toyota Allion can recline in 7 stages and can be folded with a 60/40 split as double folding type seat that provides excellent loading property of baggage.
  Toyota Allion has 3 types of engines: 2.0 liter, 1.8 liter and 1.5 liter engines.
  Transmission is continuously variable transmission Super CVT-i.
  Drive type is basically FF, but 1.8 liter model is also available for 4WD.
  In accordance with recent standards of safety, Toyota Allion adopts collision safety body GOA, SRS airbag system, and ABS coupled with electronic brake-force distribution as standard equipment. Side & curtain airbags are also available as options.
  In January 2008, two new models were added to Toyota Allion line-up: 2.0 liter engine model equipped with Valvematic system and low priced 1.5 liter and 1.8 liter models.
