Nissan Bluebird Sylphy was released for sale in August 2000.The idea was to renew the classical "Bluebird" brand and make a sophisticated high-quality atmosphere and high eco-friendly technology sedan, also good in its size.
Bluebird Sylphy's platform is similar to Nissan Sunny. The body size is compact, but what is significant is that both exterior and interior of Bluebird Sylphy are made of high-quality materials: cafe latte color is used as a color for interior, the shape of the roof is round, the panels made in a woody taste, seats have a piping usually used in elite furniture etc. Furthermore, Bluebird Sylphy adopts various convenient equipment, such as 2 step type console box with a pop-up feature, which can be used as an armrest while driving, two-point supported room mirror adjustable in height and angle according to the physique of occupants.
Nissan Bluebird Sylphy has 4 types of the engine: 1.5 liter, 1.8 liter and 2 liter, which all are in-line 4-cylinder engines. For 1.8 liter QG18DE engine, the exhaust gas clean up capability was significantly improved, the amount of exhaust gas of this engine is more than 50% below the value of the cleanest "ultra-low emission" standard set by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport of Japan.
Transmissions depend on the grades: 6-speed continuously variable transmission Hyper CVT-M6 with manual mode, electronic control 4-speed automatic transmission E-ATx and 5-speed MT are available.
The drive type is basically FF, but for some grades, 4WD is also available.
For safety features, supplemental restraint system (SRS) airbag, antilock brake system (ABS), braking assist etc. are adopted as standard equipment.

Nissan Bluebird Sylphy 2005/12
One of the distinctive characteristics of the car is its compact-sized 4-door sedan body. The exterior design adopts a lot of curved lines. By using Nissan's distinctive design theme, called S-motion (from the S-shaped curve), relaxing atmosphere is achieved.
The main point of Nissan Bluebird Sylphy's interior is the upper surface of its instrumental panel, which also makes a gentle curve. Sylphy's interior is a relaxing and quiet space. The wheelbase of Bluebird Sylphy has been significantly extended compared with the previous models, thus increasing the space around the rear seat and making the vehicle so spacious that it's impossible to believe that it is a compact-sized sedan.
Nissan Bluebird Sylphy has 2 types of engine: 1.5 liters and 2.0 liters engines, both in-line 4-cylinders engines. 2.0 liters model is equipped with XTRONIC CVT. 1.5 liters model is equipped with electronically controlled 4-speed AT, and e-4WD type is also available for this model. The higher grade is fitted with driver's memory seat as a standard equipment. 2 liters model adopts an intelligent air-conditioning system. The equipment is high-quality and convenient.
For safety features, supplemental restraint system (SRS) airbag, antilock brake system (ABS) etc. are adopted as standard equipment, and Curtain Airbag SRS, 3-point seat belts for the rear seats etc. are available as options.
